Whistling Cow Announces the Launch of its Second Productivity Software Tool: Whistler’s List
RIVER EDGE, NJ May 26, 2005: Whistling Cow is launching the second in its line of enhanced productivity software tools: “Whistler’s List”. Its first database software application, KronoLog, launched in April, 2005, has received five top awards and widespread acclaim as “the information manager for the information age.”
Whistler’s List is a freeware program that showcases the to do list functions of KronoLog. This program is visually appealing, re-sizable and font changeable. It also features a drag and drop reordering of priorities, “any column” reordering, pick lists for activities, projects and clients, access to multiple databases and a daily list print function. It is designed from the point of view of a professional (typically an attorney, architect or accountant) who needs to process increasing amounts of client-related information and act in accordance with established priorities. In the same way that KronoLog focuses on the user’s experiential point of view, Whistler’s List minimizes the number of keystrokes needed for the entry and subsequent retrieval of “things” that need to be done. Most users will spend less than five minutes to develop an effective daily plan of action.
When asked why Whistling Cow was distributing Whistler’s List for free, Kipp Elliott Watson, Whistling Cow’s CEO, answered: “We are giving Whistler’s List away for free because we are confident that once people experience for themselves our vision for effective information and practice management, they will see the tremendous benefit that comes from using Whistling Cow’s premier award winning product, KronoLog. Go ahead. Organize your day. It’s free.”
Whistler’s List is downloadable in two versions from www.whistlingcow.com. One is freeware and the other, commercial-free, is available for a single user one-time license fee of $12.95.

I am a busy graphic artist looking for a way to sort my various client projects in a tree-form organization chart so I can track deadlines and help schedule my commitment for time better. I hoped the Whistler's List would help me do that, but the limits of having to decide what project titles which had to be listed first, made it very uncooperation. Then, when I wanted to sort by Client Business name, the only way to list the the client was by first and last name. When I entered my client list, a few standard project types I do, and then tried to add the to the list, it only sorted by the project type instead of the client name.
I ended up deleting the program from my computer and won't be using it.

Whistler's List uses activities, clients and projects lists that can be created by the user. These lists, in turn, can be used to create to do lists. While it is true that the activities, clients and projects are automatically sorted (this is by design), the to do lists that are created by selecting items from these activities, clients and projects lists can be re-ordered in any way desired by the user. For example, each to do list can be reordered by clicking on a column header. So the user can reorder each to do list by priority, deadline date, thing to do, client or project, or even start date (in ascending or descending order). In addition, the user can drag any to do line item to its desired location in the list. Moreover, the user has an option of creating a new database for each client or project, so the user's control over the visibility of inputted data far exceeds that of a typical to do list program. Although this information is available to the user by clicking on the help menu item (and then going to the option to "Learn about KronoLog"), graphicartist's feedback is invaluable because in fact it should be easier for the user to learn that these options are available. The help menu will be revised for the next version with this in mind. Thank you, graphicartist, for your feedback. I hope you will give Whistler's List another try and keep me posted on your future experiences with the program.
