A low cost image viewer and editor specially designed to handle document imaging for Windows XP, with the ability to read and save multi-page scanned documents in TIFF or PDF, supports over 30 other formats. Reading and adding Kodak Imaging compatible annotations.
Image editing tools are geared for scanned page image processing, such as mark and crop , auto crop black border or white edge, straighten page (deskew), or remove noise spots (despeckle).

It is pleasing to see ones comments acted upon, and I congratulate the authors on a significant improvement to the first version. It is shaping up as a useful utility program for handling documents, where there is a painful gap in the market at present.
Unfortunately I cannot yet recommend it for purchase, simply because I could not read pdf files created by acrobat 6. 0 standard, reporting that they are "not a valid image to display" - I think adobe would take issue with that. Limitations on pdf page manipulation is also a stopper.
While you are fixing those problems, here are some more hoefully constructive comments:
1. The straightening function is very good, but it cannot always get it right. You need also a rotate to any angle (to 0. 1 degrees). I am not sure how the straighten works, but if it is on text alignment, it should ingore a fax header, and italics.
2. You should be able to apply functions globally to a multipage document, or to individual pages. Try straightening 50 pages!
3. Page manipulation is pretty clumsy at present. More keyboard shortcuts would help. Moving a page sveral positons by successive clicking on a toolbar is not on. You have shortcuts for page selection (pageup, pagedown, home and end - why not tell the user, in the tool bar, or in the help. A thumbnail view of all pages in a side bar like acrobat, would be great. Then select any pages, move them, or edit them with other functions.
4. Drag and drop files would speed up work and make the program much more useful.
5. Handling double sided documents: you scan multipage document with an adf, then turn the stack over and scan the backs of the pages. The second scan is in the reverse order. You need a facility to reverse the pages in the second file and interleave them with the pages in the first file. Acrobat and ms document scanning have this facility during scan, but it will not work with some scanners - better to implement it as a separate file function.
If you can do all this you will graduate to "very good". Then i'll buy the program. If you want to graduate to "excellent" i'll give you some more tasks.

I am not impressed with this little offering, although I guess you get what you pay for. It is too limited for serious stuff. Clean-up and editing are weak. Eraser does not seem to work at all. There may be some way to make it work but the help is infantile, just stating what the command does, which is obvious.
What kind of tasls? I am looking for a program to clean up multi-page scans, straighten, crop to contolled size, adjust white borders, or centre image, despeckle, erase with controlled precision. Preferably resave without destroying embedded OCR info, or better still built-in OCR.
How this program helps? Sorry it doesn't cut the mustard. I don't mind paying a bit more if it does the job, but I can't afford the $1500 commercial stuff - I am just a sole operator. There doesn't seem to be much around. Let me know if you ever get it up there.
