PhoneTray is an easy to use FREE Caller ID software. It shows and speaks the callers name and number before you answer the phone. You can set a different ringtone for each caller or type of callers - select from 20 included ringtones or use any wav file. PhoneTray logs all your incoming calls - date, time, name and number.
PhoneTray can automatically zap telemarketers with a special number disconnected tone. The program can play Federal do-not-call warning forcing telemarketers to remove you from their calling lists - by law! PhoneTray can block calls from specific numbers or reject any other type of unwanted calls (blocked number, out of area etc.) by answering and playing selected message. Several messages are included or you can use wav file of your choice.
PhoneTray requires a modem with CallerID support and CallerID service from your phone company.

This is a wonderful program. It is very easy to use. you can change the caller id on the Pc. you can zap phone calls you do not want to receive any more. It also logs calls by date and time which is great if ever neded for legal reasons. This is a fantastic program that we have ran for years with absolutety NO problems what so ever.

I wasn't able to use the program, but I feel like I would have knowm it in advance if I had just thought about it first.
My computer is connected to the internet through a wireless router, therefore it doesn't get a direst signal from the phone line.
The interface was clean and I liked the idea of it anyway...

After trying numerous Talking CallerID programs for Vista, PhoneTray Free is the best. It was quick to setup and operates with efficiency. I especially like the notification option capabilities and blocking options. Also, there seems to be provision to export Names and Phone#s from Windows Mail or Outlokk and insert in to the PhoeTray's Names DataBase. Just a couple of minor things that do not work the way that I expected.

Version: 1.31Most of the time the program works great.
But sometimes I get calls that say n/a both number and name.
But on my other phones in the house the caller id data is there. I do have DSL and there is a filter on the line to the modem I have a Aopen FM56 -PLX modem with driver Ver 212. 172. 61. 0.
Also the volume on the phone message is too low.
