WebDrive integrates FTP, FTPS, WebDAV, SFTP, Amazon S3 or FrontPage servers into the Windows desktop by making your web server appear as a network drive. This allows you to use your favorite applications to edit files and save them directly to the server. The WebDrive client includes proxy server support and many advanced FTP features like resume interrupted download, Auto ASCII/Binary transfer selection, and Unix file permission support. WebDrive also has SSL and SSH encryption capabilities for secure file transfers and Digest Authentication support for WebDAV servers.

I've found that in the system tray WebDrive and the Pidgen messaging application can not both be represented, both applications continue running but WebDrive covers the Pidgen representative. I'm running Windows XP and this is with Pidgen v2.1.0 utilizing the GTK Runtime v2.10.13 and WebDrive v7.34 build #1801.
Otherwise, so far it looks like a fine piece of software, thanks.

I downloaded WebDrive a couple of weeks ago and decided to buy it almost immediately - it has made my life so much easier.
I maintain several websites professionally and I might need to access half a dozen or more different servers during the working day and the time savings soon mount up.
Here's how I used to edit a file on a server:
1. Run ftp client
2. Download file from server to laptop
3. Open file in editor
4. Make changes to file
5. Save file on laptop
6. Upload edited file to server via ftp client
7. Test changes on website
Repeat steps 4 to 7 as required
8. Delete the local copy of the file
Here's the same using WebDrive:
1. Map drive X to server using WebDrive
2. Open file on drive X in editor
3. Make changes to file
4. Save file
5. Test changes on website
Repeat steps 3 to 5 as required
WebDrive saves me an enormous amount of time and trouble - no more ftp client during the edit/test cycle and no local copies of everything stored on every server (other than backups).
The program as supplied is very nearly perfect though I should like to see the addition of a "WebDrive" toolbar for Windows Explorer. This is not really a criticism, just a wish.
WebDrive is extremely easy to install and configure and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs access to files on a remote computer. WebDrive costs no more than a 'traditional' ftp client, yet is considerably easier to use and understand for the less experienced user.
