IsoBuster is high end but low cost software to do data recovery from CD, DVD, BD and HD DVD. By better Error handling and several retry-mechanisms IsoBuster has a fair chance of recovering your data. The use of alternative ways to get to the data means that you get the best out of your drive. Furthermore IsoBuster circumvents Windows and does everything by itself, it communicates directly with the devices and takes care of all the data interpretation. This means that it is not limited to what Windows can see and it is able to deal with all sorts of logical issues as well. As a result discs stay 'readable' after problems, such as a Buffer Under-run or a failed disc finalisation, and all common file-systems, even the ones not supported by Windows are recognised and interpreted by the program. The program is however not limited by the file-system standards, it copes with a vast range of possible issues, hard coded or via virtual intelligence and on top of this it is able to build file lists based on file-signatures, independent from any file-system data. Supported file-systems are ISO9660, Romeo, Joliet, Rock Ridge, UDF 1.02 up to 2.6, HFS, HFS+, IFO/VOB for standard Video DVD but also DVD+VR specific, FAT 12, 16 and 32. Additionally IsoBuster takes care of all sorts of drive-disc incompatibilities, such as support for Mount Rainier discs in non-Mount Rainier drives. All this means that any currently available optical disc (from CD to HD DVD to ...) is supported, even discs not created on Windows, such as Mac HFS discs or Mavica digital camera disc etc. Additional features are : The support of an enormous range of image files, which are identical copies of CD, BD or (HD)DVD saved into a file, they are dealt with as if they are actual discs. Creation of such image files. UDF, MRW and HFS remapping. Extraction of dat to mpg files from (S)VCDs. Scanning for lost files and folders. Support for discs created with drag and drop apps such as DCD, InCD, DLA, and much much more

I was able to download the program and it appears that it was able to read the disc but I'm not sure if it's really working. I'm afraid it is some kind of a hoax just to make me feel it is going to work but after getting my money, or paying the bloody serial key over the internet, it.
Wont really gonna work at all! At least they should show some footage of what was inside the disc to really make me believe it is really gonna work! I'm just trying to help my friend retrieve their videos lost inside the disc.

I needed it just for one initial extraction of a microsoft image upon recommendation to slipstream sp2 into a winxp OS boot disk. Worked great. Not sure I really needed to spend $30 on that tho, but I didn't want to spend all day looking for a solution and it worked precisely as advertised.

I downloaded ISOBuster to see if I could recover a CD given to me possibly created with Roxio. I could not extract anything at all. Only got a file listing; which is better than the other recovery software I've tried so far.
So I tried ISOBuster with an ISO image I had saved. It read all files.
