bcTester 4.8 is a freeware software for barcode reading (linear and 2 dimensional) on digital images captured by scanning or photographing. A lot of input formats are supported, e.g. BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, JPG. Version 4.8 reads barcodes from Adobe PDF-Files as well. All common barcode types are recognized,, e. g. 2 of 5 familiy, code 39, code 93, codabar, code128, ean, ucc and upc, GS1 DataBar (POS), patchcodes, 2-state and 4-state Post Codes like PostNet, Royal Mail, USPS Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB). bcTester decodes 2D bar codes Aztec, Data Matrix, QR Code and PDF 417. Test if your barcodes are readable and check the content!

This program is great I have a large collection of music CD's. I scanned all the back covers and using your program I scanned the bar codes and pasted that info in to my music collectors database program it then searched the web for all missing info and filed in the blanks for me the database software has a separate bar code scanner you can perches but at $90 this is a great free alternative.

This software is very usefull for to have immediate checking of bar code that you print. Since we treat Ink Jet continuos industrial print we need to check in real time almost every kind of bar code (linear and 2D), in order to adjust the print quality, for a high readability.

I have been using the bcTester program for a few days to test capabilities, so far the jury is out. I have not been able to read PDF417 barcodes that should have been. In fact, the wizard has not even found some of them on scanned pages, 300 dpi & good quality.
At the moment, the program has not helped me very much.
So I will keep using for a bit longer before I decide to look at your other products.
