Carousel is software to connect VoIP calls to ordinary telephone lines and vice versa using one of a number of professional telephony devices. It works as a virtual FXO gateway. You install it as a service on any Windows PC. SIP protocol VoIP calls will be directed out to standard PSTN analog lines through a telephony board.
Typical Applications:
~ To create a 1 to 12 FXO gateway to route VoIP SIP calls to ordinary phone lines.
~ To run a VoIP Based PBX (eg. Axon) when no SIP Gateway or Broadband provider is available. ie. Where you want to use VoIP to route calls in a office but where all external calls are still on ordinary telephone lines.
~ To use an existing LAN network to route calls from a Virtual PBX.

Version: 1.00I was supprised and impressed with how easy it was to set-up this program, but I was a little disapointed when I could not get my voice modem to work as an analog FXO port. Everything I read leads me to beleive that it should work, I even tried another program from Teleon to test my modem. But after trying multiple drivers, even trying to tweak my modem .INI file, I just could not get Carousel to recognise the PCTel HSP 2304wt as a valid hardware port. I'm going to keep trying with other modems to see if I can get one that works. This is to good a tool not to use. Who'd ever would have thought that you could run an entire PBX on an old Dell Laptop.
