Prism is a video file converter for Windows. It can convert video files from avi, mpg, vob, wmv (Windows Media Video formats) and more into avi, asf or wmv files.
Prism Converter is very easy to use. Just add the files you want to convert to the list, select the format you want to use, and then click the convert button.

I like this product. The gui is intuitive so you can start using it quickly.

It doesn't provide enough info about the source file.
I wish that the encoder options were more extensive. When I converted a VOB file to DVD mpeg2, at the highest available bitrate, the resultant quality seemed inferior to the source.
I hate the "Are you sure?" dialog box that pops up when you try to remove a file from the list. It would be better to split the "Remove" and "Remove All" buttons into 2 buttons "Remove"/"Restore" and "Remove All"/"Restore All" because >90% of the time people mean it when they press the button and don't enjoy the extra work provided by the "Are you sure?" pop-up.

Version: 1.27My download was perfectly successful. I have used the program for a long time and find it does just what I want admirably. I had to do another download because I have changed my computer.

I downloaded Prism with the hope that it would convert all my short home videos from my G9 camera to a format which would work on my Lenox MP4 player -- main reason was that Lenoxx only supply a "Windows" converter program which will not work with my Linux Wine system. Prism worked great with wine and I converted several videos -- but could not convert them to the Lenoxx format (320 x 240 20FPC) neverless the videos I converted to 320 x 240 25FPS and 22.5FPS looked as good as the origonal, and I believe Prism is a very workable and reliable program.

The software is very useful in converting Window file formats from Video Cameras to any other suitable formats for e mailing and others to watch.
A 5 minute programme taken by a video camera in windows file format is of the order of 300 MB . I will be happy if anybody can suggest how to reduce the size of the video clip to about 3 MB without sacrificing picture quality to a large extent. I am very grateful to the software designers for their excellent work.
