The Autorun.inf Editor is a program that can be used to quickly and easily create autorun CD autorun.inf files. An autorun.inf file is a required file when creating an autorun CD. When a CD is put into the drive, the operating system looks for the autorun.inf file. If the file exists, it reads the file and then knows how to "autoplay" the CD. There are a number of things you can do with an autorun.inf file.
The Autorun.inf Editor was created as a free utility to make it easy for people to generate their own autorun.inf files. With the editor you can create an autorun.inf file that can:
-Set a label for the CD (this label will be displayed in My Computer and Explorer on a Windows computer)
-Set an icon for the CD
-Specify a program on the CD (or user's computer) to run when the CD is inserted
-Add entries and commands to the context menu for when a user right-clicks on the CD

The download ran fine and the software works. However, It only tries to run .exe files and I wanted to run an index.htm file. Actually a Google search found the correct parameters (ShellExecute=index.htm) and I used Notepad to edit the file and this works fine. If you wanted to improve the product you could include options for different types of run (and indeed options for maximising the page etc). (These would be different for a Mac) Another improvement would be a method and (instructions)for creating the disc icon. There was a small failing - when asking for the filename to save the file, there is a temptation (as I did the first time) to type in a fancy filename and of course this did not work as it needs to be AUTORUN. Perhaps you could arrange a default entry for the filename.

Version: 1.0I needed to within an hour or so create an autorun.inf file for a CD that would run an HTML document in the root of the CD. I learned that it's not possible with a simple autorun.inf file, but I was not able to get it to work in time so simply created by CD without the autorun feature. I know I've done this before, but now I remember that is requires running an executable of some kind which calls the HTML or other document. I wish Microsoft didn't make something so simple so hard to do.
