Great tool for free-form testing of socket code. Used this to have my code connect up to it prior to integration.
Some of the most useful parts of the tool are hidden in the context-menu. Don't forget to right-click.
Only thing missing for me was ability to log to file.
The software worked very well for my application giving me control of the serial port for testing specific
control codes for a new system
Thanks for making Hercules available.
Hercules in serial mode is much nicer to use than Hyperterm.
Its resource use is modest and when you close the serial port it does not interfere with any other program trying to use it.
I have used it for examining the behavior of GSM and CDMA modems.
I usually leave it running on my test and setup PC.
It would be good to have some more documentation. For example, I found out by chance that F1 sends the first send string.
Found this product really easy to use and flexible.
A nice simple to use terminal. I am planning to use it to communicate with small sub systems.
I found the program to be inappropriate to use as an interface to a radio messageing program. I needed to be able to send & receive 9600 baud control instructions to a radio modem. The program was more trouble to use than other older programs [Hyperterminal, etc]. It also tried to open my fireall but Vista security stopped that. I have deleted it from my system.
Sorry, I was looking for something better than Hyperterm. This cannot handle COM ports with higher numbers. We use virtual serial ports a lot and needed something that can do that.

What I was after was a means of downloading GPS information for a Garmin Etrex. I did get some information, but none of it made much sense.
I did not want to record by hand 70 old points. But looks like that it will have to be done this way.

It uses win32 console API and therefore may run both windowed and in fullscreen character mode.
