Would like to view byte values in integers if possible. Would like to see packets between start and stop bits on separate lines. Good software though.

Easy to setup, use, and capture the required information.

I downloaded your software here at work at Airbus to see about an RS485 to RS232 interface I'm troubleshooting. Looks very good so far with useful windows. Looking into connections still though.
Thank you.

While developing some interface software between a Handheld PC and a Serial device this product made it incredibly easy to see the Tx and Rx from each device during implementation and testing.

I am not quite sure if this is the last answer to analyzing app-tapi-comx-(voice!-)modem chains, but who is interested anyhow anymore.
I'd like to know more about the above chain und FSPM helped.
Looking at the supplied viewers lets you get along.
Thank you for supplying!

I really like the program it's fast and easy to use, but it would be nice to have a "log" function, so in case of a crash the data would be logged for recovery at a later time. But then again. It's free so who am I to complain.

Quite valuable when an independent monitor is unavailable.

Just what I needed to monitor a VT100 terminal driver. Hex/ASCII view allowed me to see all escape codes etc.
Would like to see "analyzer" or "'scope" like trace of all handshake lines as I debug.

I've used lots of serial analyzers, network analyzers, and so on, and the Free Serial Port Monitor is one of the best of this kind of product. I solved a problem with a serial interface in a few hours that I can't imagine how I would've ever solved without it.
If you're doing work with serial interfaces on Windows, you have to have this!

I have been using sofwtare for more than a year and I have enjoy using it. It is very easy and friendly to set up the sessions. I have got most of my co-workers using this serial monitor and they all have enjoy it.
You have dpne an excellent job.

This program is easy to use, and has all functionality I need. The wizard makes it easy to set up a session, and the visualizers give all the information you need.
I used it to analyze a data protocol, and later I can use it for debugging too.

I've downloaded the HDD tool and every time I try to use it I get:unhandles exception.

excellent product wish everything was this easy and useful

I needed a com port sniffer to analyze a communication between PC and a serial device (AC solar power inverter). This tool did the job after just a short and uncomplicated installation.
Use it!

I was looking for a "freebie" to check out a problem I am having with a random occurence in product control via RS-232. The monitor works really nice and is a lot more than I expected. I'm actually considering purchase of the standard version so I can use the logging feature instead of exporting data manually.
The problem I am trying to find has to do with serial responses getting out of sync with the respective queries. This happens randomly and for no apparent reason. What I needed was a log of everything that had happened previous to the problem, accumulate a number of instances for the problem and then compare the histories to see a common factor. The monitor does a good job of this and even provides time stamp info so it can be included in the analysis. Since the export data is format friendly, it is easy to pull back in and analyze with various tools.

Debugging of Shell extensions is a simple process, but some things still made developers "unhappy": * DLL's are locked by applications (for caching purposes) and you are unable to recompile your project * You need to use Registry Editor to modify hidden Windows Shell setting * Sometimes you don't have access to some Explorer features while debugging your Shell Extension ShellReset utility solves these problems.
