When your hard disk fails for what ever reason the last thing you need is to spend out on expensive software and support services in case there is something that may or may not be on your hard drive to recover. Back2Life comes to the rescue. You need a working matchine to plug the damaged drive into. Download and install Back2Life. You can set it off working and looking for the data and preview some files to see if what it finds are important to you. If you want to retrive the data to another disk drive you can then go back on line and pay the tiny fee to get it registered and then retrive your data. If you are sure you have everything backed up can't find anything it does not cost you a cent.
Thanks to the wonders of windows updates my drive became corrupted. I tried the usual check disk and it failed. After I rebooted it got worse. I put the drive into another machine which I had previously used to check disk and defragment the drive and it wouldn't read it.
Back2Life worked through the mess and corrupted file entries and found everything of the 36Gb drive I expected. I decided that I wanted to recover the data and compare to the last back up. Taking the last back up as master I then checked all the later files. I lost part of 4 images and reclaimed back everything file I needed.
Back2Life is no replacement for a proper and regular back up but it can recover an amazing amount of data, even files you thought long since deleted.
The interface is a 'no brainer'. It could not be any more simple and secure to use. It did take some time to list all the files but the drive was full and there where many thousands of files.
If you have deleted files by mistake or if your drive becomes un-readable by the operating system then Back2Life will still work it's magic.
