Similarity is a useful program that helps you to find and remove similar, duplicate musical files (MP3, WMA, OGG, MP4, WAV, FLAC, APE, WV) with the same or similar sound content, music tags (ID3,WMF,Vorbis). This is the best program where similarity of a sound part is checked, not just music tags or file content (byte to byte comparision).

this program works very fast to sort through sound files looking for "similarity" in either content and tags or both (checkbox setting) the similarity can be set from 0 to 100%. I found 78% gave the best result, any lower and every Johny Cash or Mamas and Papas song matched every other song they made, (not sure what this says about the performance or my musical taste) anyways it weeded out every match, displayed file size and bitrate also matched mp3 with flac etc and I could make a sensible choice for each duplicate found, I could play both from the interface or delete one - not sure why but Media Monkey worked very well with it, VLC and others didn't work directly with the program - incidentally MMonkey displayed the true bitrates - I had a LOT of false bitrates reported within the files (mostly scrounged or stolen), saved lots of disk space and ended up with only the best quality rips for each song. The interface is not too polished but I didn't find any retails that could do what this FREE program does. Congrats to the programmer, I don't know how on earth it works, but it does superbly, thanks for making it available and good luck with retailing it in the future
