NoteCard is an educational utility that will give you drill at recognizing music notes. It can significantly shorten the time it takes to learn to recognize the notes instantly, an absolutely necessary ability for fluent reading. As notes are displayed on a musical staff, you enter the note name, or click in the appropriate place on a piano keyboard or guitar neck graphic. Provides practice with both treble and bass staves. This is so simple to use and effective.
I am running the program on the Linux operating system using the windows emulator Wine.
Any spare moment can be used to improve sight reading.
For a sheet music novice like me its a godsend

An EXCELLENT tool for learning musical notes and practicing. The incremental stages gradually build up knowledge and confidence. I also like the ability to start with Notes as alphabets but then move on to the keyboard layout.
Another great feature is starting with one octave and then progressing to a full keyboard.
Thanks for a great tool. May I make a request that you provide a sound facility so that apart from visual feedback you also get some audio feedback when the keys are pressed.

Version: 2.0.1Trying to learn harp has been slow as I have not read bass clef for about 25 years! Using this 'game' is already giving me more confidence so that I am able to pick up a piece of music and play it better. Much more effective than writing the note names on the music.
I'm learning the notes quickly and making the mistake of answering with the treble clef equivalent less often.I am using this resource daily. Very simple but effective.

Aparently I am having a mid life crisis, turning to a electric bass rather than sports car. Not having dabled with music since my school days I need a little help and the NoteCard application is brilliant. I am using it in bass clef with notes, as I could not get the Guitar options to work with bass clef.

Simple and easy to use. I've already learned the treble clef notes with this program, and am half way through bass clef. No sharps/flats, but it has really been helping me learn the basic notes! I've tried a few similar programs, but this one is my favorite.
